Do you remember my room?
Err not so important's room to be remembered also
So, today i want to tell you about that not so important room
I prefer called as a cubicle because 5 meters square only, without windows, lamp was not working, really messy, full of papers, no air conditioner. I bought fan few months ago, just to make sure i will not struggling to stay at my cubicle when weather forecast said the real feel will be 39 degree.
then, once upon at the time, i feel so boring
I feel hopeless when i sit here, i always want to be away from this cubicle, back to go home early, this messy cubicle torture my mood.
i have to do something with my room. In my dream, my cubicle will be like this.
so beautiful room |
but that will be too good to be true. Maybe only top management or senior professor have luxury room. As junior lecturer, all praise to God, i got personal space like this cubicle, All of the stuff here i got from other lecturer furniture, they move to the other room or leave it for postgraduate/doctoral degree. Comparing to this old room, the dream room will consume a lot of money, to be realized.
I had two printers, one is my personal printer, i brought from home, after that my colleague gave another printer with more ink, one book shelf (with all of small things in it), one computer table without desktop hahaha and a lot of papers. Most of the papers are students project, exam results etc.
I decided to ask one computer desktop with larger view. I got the desktop from lab, and then it means i need another table. When i asked some help from students to lift the table, they warn me, it will not be fit in your room Ma'am, your room too small and i said, it will, and it must. They were not 100% wrong, It took one hour, only to manage two big table, one shelf, and one smaller table for the printer. I tried so many formation and failed :p

Also, i have to give space for students chair. Maybe they want to meet me and consult about project and so on. The most important thing, give some space to pray, coz at least i'll be here from 7.30 to 4 pm. There is small room as musholla in this building, but always busy with students from two departments.
Second hour, Lia, the cleaning service pass by and saw me confused with the tables, then she offered some help. Yup, half an hour later we decide which area that will be the right place for the tables. Is it finished? Nop..all tables are the old one, i have to buy cover to make it nice.
Next step, i selected all unused papers and gave two big boxes for Lia, it was up to her how to throw that out. I also put Neso poster and hang it on the wall to give some colour. At the back of the door, i nailed hanger for my jacket. For the light, i bought tube lamp and asked the Keyman help me to turn on the lamp.

The size of the table was not suitable to make it like a corner, i took some part of broken computer table from the third floor, bought some shelf support and nailed it to make longer table. I did also for two more shelf from broken computer table on the wall. I put small stuffs from book shelf and printed papers. For the book shelf, i manage the books on the proper place, As a final touch, i bought some artificial flowers, bring some souvenirs and tiny things i keep, put on shelf and voila.. i made it, my cubicle makeover.

So far, i feel more comfortable with big screen, brighter cubicle and full of colour.
After i finished, my colleague came to my door, saw new look of my room and said...how if the boss said we have to move to next building?
and we laugh hahaha
Well it means maybe another make over. This is my cubicle appearance now.
